ALVIRNE High School began with a vision of Dr. Hills in 1918 for an “industrial school’ in Hudson when he signed his last will and testament to the lengthy probate process following his death in 1920. Then came the various court actions, the beginning of ALVIRNE School in the Summer of 1948 and securing the Hills Family trust funds in 1949. Then came the planning, design, and building process , the first graduating class in 1951, fires at the high school and barn, to the expansion and rededication of the Palmer Center.
