Allen, Are/were you connected to the Ben Morgan farm? What type of farming did you do? Market, chickens, cows?
Thanks for any memories you may wish to share! Ruth for The Historical Society
Hi Ruth, really enjoy reading the posts and I remember some of the places well. Especially this week, I worked at the speedway one summer – around 1980 – flipping burgers. I grew up in Hudson and left after graduating Alvirne in ’82.
My parents bought their house on Gloria Avenue in about 1955 from Evelyn Parker, any relation? I think she may have been a librarian, the attic was full of old books, some of which I still have.
Allen,
I am beginning to realize the Speedway was a source of weekend work for the locals! You are the second person who worked concessions at the speedway! Thanks for your memories. By the way…did you remember a Fried Clam Stand (Bowdens?) at the corner of Robinson and Derry Roads diagonally opposite the Speedway?
I grew up in Hudson on a farm just 2 1/2 miles from the speedway. The sound of the cars revving their engines around the track and the increase in traffic was just a part of weekend life in the country. Hudson has at least 3 lines of Parkers..to my knowledge Evelyn Parker is not part of my line.
Keep enjoying and commenting on these posts!! Ruth
Hi, we recently moved into the area and not knowing much about the history I’m interested in this name Buttrick. In the towns of Hampstead and Londonderry I’ve seen a couple road names by this name. I’m curious about any other information about the lineage of this name and what were some of the things that contributed to street names being named after them?
Thanks!
i don’t know if I am doing this right, BUT, I love history..(my Dad was a High School History Teacher. I am originally from Northampton, Mass). That being said, I live in Hudson now and want to learn all I can about my town. I will share it with my grandkids.
Maam,
l spent my early years growing up on a farm on the Lowell Rd. I am now 89 and would appreciate being on your list.
Thank you
Allen Morgan
