The purpose of Remember Hudson When …  is to document our town’s history and share it with individuals who have a connection with Hudson.

A ‘pull down’ menu on the right side of the home page provides an index to these articles by category and street.

Remember Hudson When …contains photos with  corresponding articles from Hudson’s past.   For some these will bring back memories; for others a bit of history.  Some will  go back only a few decades while others reach back 100 years or more!  While researching for these articles we used material from the collection of the Historical Society supported by other sources like  town histories, published genealogies, maps, census records, personal memories, and Registry of Deeds to name a few.  The photos are from the Society’s Collection or in a few cases private collections.

We do ask that commercial use of these articles and photos be by permission of the Hudson Historical Society.  If articles or photos are copied for personal use or postings that source credit is given to the Hudson Historical Society by referencing this site.

This project began in August 2014 when an article was written each week and simultaneously submitted to the Hudson Litchfield News for publication and posted to this web site.  Over time when the increase in energy and time required for research became a reality we published new articles every other weeks and posted ‘Revisit’ on the alternate weeks.  This continued until the end of December 2019. These articles are written by Ruth M. Parker or other members of the Society’s Genealogy and Research Committee.

At the end of 2019 it became necessary for the Hudson-Litchfield News to stop publishing.  We had a ‘good run’ as they say.  We all miss the HLN and the impact it had on our communities!!  That goes without saying and we say ‘Thank You” for the publishing venue these past years.

Going forward additional articles will be forth coming!  These articles will be posted in this web site and submitted every other week to the Nashua Telegraph as part of the Sunday Edition.

In the past whenever we printed a “Revisit” story it was also posted in this web site, giving rise to duplicate postings.  In the future a story will be posted just once and the duplicate posts will be eliminated.

About the society 

Organized in 1963 with the purpose of preserving and stimulating an interest in Hudson’s history.  Our museum of Hudson’s history is located in the Alvirne Hills House at 211 Derry Road.
